Right Steps, with generous support from Indiana's Regional Economic Acceleration & Development Initiative (READI) and local funding, is pleased to announce a regional early childhood capacity-building initiative to increase access to quality child care for working and work-willing parents of young children.

Qualifying applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Plan to open a new child care program or expand the capacity of an existing child care program
  • Expand capacity within the geographic borders of the following Indiana Counties: Benton, Fountain, Tippecanoe, Warren, White
  • Any new child care capacity must be CCDF-eligible and meet the CCDF Provider Eligibility standard (about CCDF)

Applicants are eligible to apply for this funding multiple times. Applicants that wish to increase capacity at two or more locations should complete a separate application for each location.

Proposals are accepted and will be approved on a rolling basis.

The spirit of this funding is to increase access to child care for working families. Quality child care is an essential service that enables parents to work and provide for their families, allows employers to find quality staff, and benefits the overall economic health of a community. Applicants will be expected to seek out a letter of support from at least one (maximum of two) of the local stakeholders listed below.

  • local economic development organization (find your local LEDO)
  • unit of local government (ie. city/town council, county commissioners, mayor, etc.)
  • local employers that will benefit from you providing quality child care
  • another community stakeholder that can speak to the impact for your project
